Jessica, 14, is an upbeat, fun and energetic young lady who came into the care of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services in 1992.

She enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring in the woods, swimming, in-line skating, and riding her bike. Jessica also likes watching movies, reading and knitting and is usually willing to try new things.

Jessica has been described as curious, cooperative and well behaved. She does have a tendency to dwell on specific issues but will respond when limits are set. Jessica has developmental delays and a learning disorder and has been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD.

Entering the eighth grade this fall, Jessica receives special education services and is enrolled in both self-contained and mainstream classes. While she finds math to be challenging, she is an avid reader and enjoys both the academic and social aspects of school.

Jessica also likes to garden and cook and enjoys swimming at the YMCA at least three days a week.

Jessica is anxious to have an adoptive family. While she has a history of attachment issues, she would do well with a single mother or a two-parent family experienced in working with children with developmental delays. Jessica loves attention and would enjoy helping with household activities as well as recreation outside the home. Jessica has two biological brothers and a grandmother with whom she would like to have continued contact.
