A Bangor man allegedly ate some marijuana Thursday night while police checked his license information during a traffic stop.
Benjamin E. Lam, 20, of Bangor, smelled of marijuana when he was stopped at 10 p.m. on Hammond Street for an expired registration, according to reports. As Officer Dennis Townsend walked to the rear of Lam’s vehicle to speak with dispatchers, another officer watched Lam pull a bag from his pocket and eat the contents, according to reports.
A bag of marijuana was taken from Lam, who said he had eaten some of the drug. A search of his car uncovered an electric scale with marijuana residue. Lam was summoned for falsifying physical evidence and possession of a usable amount of marijuana.
A man police had been searching for Friday was found at 9:10 p.m. in Pickering Square in Bangor with a pellet gun and a knife hidden in his pants.
Justan Adams, 18, of Bangor, was also allegedly caught trying to hide a small amount of marijuana in the central console of the car in which he was a passenger. Police were looking for Adams to serve him a protection order.
“The pellet gun could have been easily mistaken for a real gun,” Officer Shawn Green said Friday. “[Adams] kept saying, ‘It’s just a toy, it’s just a toy.'”
Adams was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and summoned for possession of marijuana. The driver of the car, James Doyle, 19, of Carmel, was also summoned for possession of marijuana.
Someone threw a glass coffee mug through the window of a van parked at a Bangor business this week.
The 2002 Ford van, parked at the Odlin Road Roto Rooter, was damaged sometime Thursday night or Friday morning, according to police reports. Police estimated the damage at $300. No suspects have been identified in the case.
A man was arrested Friday at The Tavern in Bangor after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend and punched out her car window.
Scott M. LaFleur, 33, no address available, followed the woman out of the Main Street bar at 5:45 p.m., according to reports. The woman told police she ran for her car and tried to lock the doors, but LaFleur yanked the driver’s side door open and pushed her.
As the woman kicked LaFleur in self-defense, he pulled away and punched through the car window, the woman told police. LaFleur was arrested on an outstanding Greenville warrant, and charged with assault and criminal mischief.
Two Bradford women were caught shoplifting at Wal-Mart in Bangor on Thursday afternoon.
A store employee saw Tanya Williams, 20, and Jessica Williams, 22, take $15.55 worth of jewelry from the store at 4:50 p.m. He told police he watched the two women select some items, remove the tags, conceal the jewelry, and attempt to leave the store.
Both women were served with a criminal summons and are scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 15.
