AUGUSTA – A Superior Court justice on Friday granted prosecutors’ request to hold a Pittston man without bail until his trial for the fatal shooting of his estranged wife and his mother last month.

Prosecutors sought to remove the possibility that Jon Dilley could be granted bail during the hearing in Kennebec County Superior Court. The judge agreed to keep Dilley behind bars indefinitely.

Dilley, 51, is accused of killing his mother, Sarah Murray, 71, and his estranged wife, Chevelle “Chellie” Calloway, 41, on Aug. 21 at Murray’s vacation home in Boothbay Harbor.

Dilley’s 9-year-old daughter witnessed the episode and told authorities there was an argument before the shooting.

According to a police affidavit, Dilley told officers he shot the two women and he directed police to a gun in the trunk of his car.
