WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $7,635,751 in funding to various housing programs throughout Maine. The grants will support a variety of housing and economic development activities in rural Maine, including modernization, development, financing and management improvements.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $7,635,751 in funding to various housing programs throughout Maine.

The grants will support a variety of housing and economic development activities in rural Maine, including modernization, development, financing and management improvements.

The federal grants were allocated to the housing authorities in the following communities:

. $1,676,511 in Portland.

. $1,007,395 in Bangor.

. $641,659 in Lewiston.

. $444,900 in South Portland.

. $638,772 in Auburn.

. $330,147 in Waterville.

. $326,250 in Presque Isle.

. $296,814 in Auburn.

. $271, 286 in Brunswick.

. $230,320 in Brewer.

. $209,137 in Sanford.

. $185, 239 in Bar Harbor.

. $168,119 in Van Buren.

. $141,860 in Bath.

. $130,921 in Old Town.

. $129,892 in Fort Fairfield.

. $108,209 in Westbrook.

. $77,301 in Ellsworth.

. $74,214 in Southwest Harbor

. $32,715 in Tremont.

. $26,025 on Mount Desert Island.
