King powers Lee past BC Patriots

BANGOR – Jake King netted scored three goals to lead the Lee Academy Pandas to a 5-2 schoolboy soccer victory over the Bangor Christian Patriots Saturday.

Rick King added a goal and an assist for 3-1 Lee. Doob Dow scored a goal and Everett Houghton had three assists. Chris King made seven saves on 17 shots.

Ignacio Bustos netted two goals for 1-1-1 Bangor Christian and Justin Phinney had an assist. Aaron Wilson stopped seven of 18 shots.

Hampden 3, Caribou 2

At Hampden, J Uhrin broke a 2-2 tie with 2:06 left in the game to propel the Broncos.

Andre Cushing assisted on the game-winning goal. Uhrin contributed another goal off an assist from Josh McNutt and Trevor Campbell scored on a penalty kick. Billy Shannon stopped five of seven shots.

Caribou’s Eamonn Harrigan netted two goals and Brad Ala made 11 saves on 14 shots.

JV: Hampden 4-1

Central 2, DI-Stonington 1

At Deer Isle, Joey Kane scored a first-half goal to help push Central of Corinth past Deer Isle-Stonington.

Joe Faggiole added a second- half goal for the 4-0 Red Devils as Charley Haney stopped four of five shots.

Miles Douglass scored a goal in the second half for the 0-2 Mariners and Tom Robbins made 22 saves on 24 shots.

Greenville 4, Shead 0

At Eastport, Durgin McKusick had a goal and an assist as the Lakers earned the win.

Eric Driscoll, Jonah Lizotte, and Joe Jardine each netted a goal for 3-0 Greenville and Kyle Whitman had an assist. Brandon Lavigne stopped six of seven shots.

Dana Mitchell made five saves on 12 shots for the 2-1 Tigers.

Islesboro 8, Highview Christian 0

At Charleston, T.L. Tutor scored three goals to help lead the Eagles.

Jon Cunningham, Nick Porter, Colin Schmidt, Ryan Gorham, and Joel Grindle each added a goal for Islesboro. Luke Thomas stopped all eight Highview Christian shots.

Stefan Rowe and Wesley Jones combined to make 16 saves on 24 shots for Highview Christian.

Old Town 3, Orono 3 (2OT)

At Old Town, Sam Petrie scored for the Indians to tie the game with 5:48 left in the second half but neither team could break through again.

Nate Lonko and Tim Niles each contributed a goal for 0-1-1 Old Town. Dillon Clark and Petrie both had an assist. Dustin Marley made seven saves on 14 shots.

Marc Schmidt scored two goals and assisted another for the 0-2-1 Red Riots and Jeff Normand had a goal. Mat Lint stopped 18 of 24 shots.

JV: Orono 3-0

Fort Kent 1, John Bapst 0 (OT)

At Fort Kent, Bud Soucy scored when his rebound shot deflected off the chest of Crusaders goalkeeper Chris Smith and into the net with 1:40 remaining in overtime, lifting the Warriors to victory.

Derek Plourde made 11 saves on 11 shots for 3-1-1 Fort Kent.

Smith came up with 15 saves on 22 shots for 1-2 John Bapst of Bangor.

Girls soccer

Presque Isle 3, Bangor 0

At Presque Isle, Natasha Deschene scored two goals to push Presque Isle to the win.

Kylan Smith added a goal for 5-0 Presque Isle as Erica Egeler and Nicole James each had an assist. Brianna Young made eight saves on eight shots.

Ilyse Angst stopped seven of 10 shots for 1-2 Bangor.

JV: Bangor 6-2

Hampden 5, Caribou 0

At Hampden, Lili Berube notched two goals as the Broncos shut down the Vikings.

Jenna Shue scored a goal and had an assist for 3-0 Hampden. Kathleen Macone and Nikki Libbey each had another goal. Becca Workman faced nine shots and made six stops.

Billie Martin made 12 saves on 25 shots for 2-3-1 Vikings.

JV: Hampden 2-0.

Fort Kent 1, John Bapst 1 (OT)

At Fort Kent, the Warriors and the Crusaders battled to a 1-1 tie in overtime.

Sherrie Ouellette scored 3-1-1 Fort Kent’s goal, with an assist from Sarah Pinette. Mindy Morneault made 21 saves on 24 shots.

Elaine Colwell scored off an assist from Hayley Cutri for 2-0-1 Bapst. Caroline Cassling faced 12 shots, stopping nine.

Schenck 2, Katahdin 1

At Stacyville, Gabriella Rioux scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick with 5:36 left in the second half to lead Schenck to the win.

Nicole Crocker scored on a Rioux assist in the first half for 3-1 Schenck. Tricia Hobbs made three saves on eight shots.

Ronni Robinson scored an unassisted goal in the first half for 0-4 Katahdin. Kayla Stevens stopped 18 of 28 shots.

Greenville 2, Shead 0

At Greenville, Hannah Breton scored an unassisted goal with 5 minutes left in the first half to lead Greenville to the win.

Kahla Lander scored on a Rica Breton assist with a minute left in the first for 4-1 Greenville. Beth Bartley stopped all three shots she faced.

Brittany Cox made 19 saves on 24 shot for 1-2 Shead of Eastport.

Old Town 2, Orono 1

At Orono, Katie Bergeron and Amy Mclaughlin both netted unassisted goals as the Indians edged the Red Riots.

Amy McFalls faced eight shots and made four saves for 1-1 Old Town.

Kati Glencross scored the 0-2 Red Riots single goal. Amanda Morrison and Heather Woodbrey combined to make three saves on seven shots.

JV: Old Town 2-1.

Central 1, Dexter 0

At Corinth, Lindsay Mitchell knocked in a direct kick with about 25 minutes left in the second half to boost the Red Devils past the Tigers.

Nicole Daniel made 10 saves on 14 shots for 1-0 Central. Ashley Richardson stopped 10 of 13 shots for 0-2 Dexter.

Field hockey

Dexter 8, Old Town 1

At Old Town, Meagan Fogarty knocked in three goals as the Tigers cruised.

Nikki Chapman, Ashley Wakefield, Jordan Conway, Michelle Chapman and Brooke Mountain each contributed a goal for Dexter. Cristy McGowen made two saves on three shots.

Anne Vayda knocked in one for the Indians, while Karey Littlefield faced 17 shots with seven saves.

JV: Dexter 2-1

Football

John Bapst 34, Maranacook 6

At Bangor, George Keefe threw for 130 yards and three touchdowns as the Crusaders rolled past the Black Bears.

Keefe was 10-for-26 with TD passes to Cory Patterson, Tyler Yeo and Mike Tardiff. Yeo led Bapst with five catches for 59 yards. Travis Carey rushed 15 times for 50 yards and brother Tom scored a touchdown and had three sacks. Nick Smith added an 18-yard touchdown run.

Maranacook of Readfield totaled 40 yards on 20 carries and 111 receiving yards.
