Delong, Young spark Wildcat win

PRESQUE ISLE – Katie Delong’s first-half goal, off an assist from Angela Norsworthy, provided the Wildcats with all the margin they needed in a 2-0 schoolgirl soccer victory over Fort Kent on Tuesday night.

Emily Robertson, with an assist from Delong, added an insurance score early in the second half. Brianna Young made four saves on six shots for 6-0 Presque Isle.

Mindy Morneault made eight saves on 12 shots for the 4-2-1 Warriors.

JV: Fort Kent 3-2

Madawaska 0, Caribou 0 (2OT)

At Madawaska, the Owls and the Vikings battled to a scoreless tie in double overtime.

Liz Laplante stopped nine of 15 shots for 4-3-2 Madawaska. Billie Martin faced 18 shots and saved 13 for 2-4-1 Caribou.

Fort Fairfield 4, Limestone 3

At Fort Fairfield Monday night, Sadie Ayoob scored two goals to help the Tigers improve to 6-2-1.

Hilary McNamee and Brittany McLaughlin each added a goal and an assist for the Tigers. Keegan O’Neal made seven saves on 14 shots.

Ellie Dunn scored three goals for 5-3-1 Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics, and Melanie Allen made 17 saves on 25 shots.

Boys soccer

Caribou 5, Madawaska 3

At Caribou, Eamonn Harrigan scored three goals and assisted on another to pace Caribou past Madawaska.

Harrigan’s direct free kick in the second half answered a pair of goals by Madawaska that had cut the Vikings’ lead to 3-2. He made it 5-2 with an indirect free kick.

Seth Swanberg, Ben Wakana, and Harrigan (penalty kick) staked Caribou to a 3-0 lead in the first half. Brad Ala made nine saves for the 5-2 Vikings.

Paul Roy had two goals for 4-4-1 Madawaska and Myles Morneault had the other. Mike Arnold had an assist, and Paul Michaud made five saves.

JV: Caribou 6-3

Fort Fairfield 4, Limestone 0

At Limestone, Kyle Enman recorded a hat trick for the Tigers.

Brock Kilcollins made 2-6 Fort Fairfield’s last goal, and Billy Skull faced 33 shots, stopping 16.

Hector Roblef and A.J. Rosignol combined to make 16 saves on 22 shots for the 3-5-1 Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics Eagles.

Van Buren 2, Fort Kent 1

At Van Buren, Brandon Boulware landed the winning goal for the Crusaders.

Andy Martin had a first half goal, and Dustin Cyr saved seven of 12 shots to come his way.

Jared McBrearity’s goal for the Warriors tied the game at 1-1. Derek Plourd faced seven shots and stopped four.

Penobscot Valley 2, Dexter 1

At Howland, Matt Cummings scored the winner for the Howlers off an assist from Jonas Traphorner with 11:21 left in the second half.

Matt Osborn posted the first goal for 2-2-1 Penobscot Valley, with an assist from Brandon Vainio. Josh Ireland made 22 saves on 26 shots.

Rick Stewart scored off an Aaron Woodman assist for the 2-2 Tigers, and Sam Bowers stopped 12 of 18 shots.
