BOYS

Big School (Classes A-B)

NICK PAYSON

Payson, a junior tailback on the Bangor football team, rushed for 130 yards and four touchdowns in the first half of the Rams’ 42-0 victory over Cheverus of Portland. Payson scored on runs of 49, 7 and 27 and 4 yards, all coming before the midway point of the second quarter.

Small School (Classes C-D)

BOBBY GILBERT

Gilbert, a senior tailback for Foxcroft Academy of Dover-Foxcroft, rushed for 241 yards and five TDs on 17 carries as the Ponies defeated Orono 33-6. Gilbert scored on runs of 45, 2, 50, 30 and 13 yards while amassing more than 200 yards for the second time in as many games this season.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

CASSIE WHITE

White, a junior on the Hermon soccer team, has scored six of the Hawks’ seven goals so far this season. She headed in a corner kick in a 1-0 win over Ellsworth, scored three goals in a 4-0 win over Foxcroft, and had two goals, including the winner with seven seconds left in double overtime, against Brewer. Hermon is 3-1.

Small School (Classes C-D)

BROOKE HARRIS

The Lee Academy freshman finished sixth in the Caribou Invitational cross country race with a time of 21 minutes, 49 seconds as the Pandas came in second overall. Class D Lee beat seven other teams in higher classifications. Harris was the Pandas’ top finisher.
