CASTINE – Kristen Gaylord scored on an assist from Ashley Brooker with 11 minutes left to lift Maine Maritime Academy to a 1-1 North Atlantic Conference soccer tie with Husson College Wednesday night.
Elissa Gordon had given Husson a 1-0 lead with a goal on a direct kick 14 minutes into the game.
Megan Marshall made 14 saves on 25 shots for 3-0-1 Maine Maritime. Leah Drew made six saves on 20 shots for 0-3-1 Husson.
Bates 4, St. Joseph’s 0
At Standish, sophomore Mary Bucci opened the scoring in the 11th minute as the Bobcats of Lewiston rolled.
Adding first-half goals were Ceci Clark and Allison Emery with an assist from Jenna Benson. Sara Gips rounded out the scoring with a goal off a Katie Carroll assist. Emily Howieson stopped both shots she faced.
Cheryl Northrup saved seven of 18 shots for St. Joseph’s.
USM 1, Gordon 1 (OT)
At Wenham, Mass., Hannah Hassler’s goal with 20 minutes left enabled 2-2-2 Gordon to tie the University of Southern Maine.
Devin Edwards scored for the 2-1-2 Huskies off a Katie Else pass early in the second half.
Marcy Ansley made seven saves on nine shots for USM while Gordon’s Mary Griffenhagen had five saves on 20 shots.
Men’s soccer
UM-Machias 2, UMPI 1
At Presque Isle, Evan Timusk and Brian Handasyde each had a first-half goal to lead the Clippers past UMPI.
Mike Zeidler and Zach Andrews had assists and Andy Swift made six saves on nine shots for 3-1-1 UM-Machias.
Jamie Brewer scored unassisted as the Owls fell to 1-3-1. Braden Dragomir saw 11 shots and stopped eight.
