While Hurricane Ivan pasted Starkville, Miss., with high winds and heavy rain Thursday, the worst of the storm missed the area. That means Saturday’s football game between the University of Maine and Mississippi State is expected to be played as scheduled at 7 p.m.
Jim Ellis, MSU’s associate athletic director for external operations, said Thursday the rain was supposed to have stopped by early Friday and conditions were expected to be partly cloudy and around 84 degrees on Saturday.
Ellis said MSU’s Bermuda grass surface is supported by a sand and gravel drainage system that should leave Scott Field in good shape come game time.
