BUCKSPORT – The Maine Department of Transportation has begun work on highway improvement projects on Route 46 and Route 15 that are scheduled to be completed by early September 2005.

Work crews initially will put down a layer of new pavement along a 7-mile stretch of Route 46 in Bucksport and then create 12-foot-wide travel lanes with 3-foot roadside shoulders on a 4-mile stretch south of the Dedham-Holden town line. Finally, crews will put new pavement down and make drainage improvements on Route 15 in Bucksport beginning just north of Franklin Street.

Drivers can expect alternating one-way traffic in work areas on a daily basis for five to six days a week. Two-lane traffic will be restored at night.
