Indians earn 1st win since ’01

OLD TOWN – Troy Niles ran 20 yards for a touchdown and Brad Perry had 91 yards on 16 carries as the Old Town Indians defeated Poland 12-6 for their first victory since 2001.

The win snapped a 19-game losing streak.

Jarrett Lukas contributed 71 yards passing and a touchdown pass to Jake Fogarty. Nate Emerson led the Old Town defense with five tackles, as the Indians allowed just 31 yards rushing.

Alex Smith threw for 203 yards for Poland, including a 28-yard TD to Josh Pomerleau.

At Millinocket, Mardy Simon galloped for 175 yards and four touchdowns on just six carries as the Red Riots rolled.

Mo Nazmy picked up 73 yards on five carries, including a 3-yard touchdown.

Jordan Burleigh tossed a 23-yard touchdown pass to Lance Thibodeau for the Minutemen. Ryan Beaulieu added a 6-yard touchdown run.

At Lincoln, Mackenzie Haines had 43 yards on 12 carries and three touchdowns as the Lynx got past the Tigers.

Dylan Hanscom completed all six of his passes for 193 yards and had an interception for MA. Duncan Markie had 93 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown and two interceptions on defense. Jason Murchison added 48 yards on 16 carries with a touchdown.

Andrew Weiss sparked Rockland with a 15-for-27, 214-yard, two-touchdown passing effort. Wade Oliver had six catches for 173 yards and two touchdowns.

Belfast 42, Hampden 22

At Belfast, Josh Aldus ran for 226 yards and scored five touchdowns as the Lions spotted the Broncos an early lead but chased them down.

After scoring on an 18-yard run in the first quarter, Aldus added TD runs of 22 yards and 10 yards in the second quarter to put the Lions up for good. He then ran back the opening kickoff of the second half 80 yards for his fourth TD.

Aldus also had a 1-yard TD run, and Nate Littlefield added a 30-yard TD run.

In addition to his rushing totals, Aldus posted 215 yards on kick returns and two rushing PATs.

Hampden scored on a 3-yard run by Kyle Ross, a 67-yard run by Chris Morris, and Justin Preston’s 2-yard run.

Jeremy Tyler was the Broncos’ top rusher with 17 carries for 139 yards.

Brewer 34, Oak Hill 6

At Brewer, Matt Littlefield, Zack Wilson and Ricky Porter combined for 328 rushing yards and five touchdowns as the Witches routed the Raiders of Sabattus.

Littlefield racked up 130 yards on six carries and scored on TD runs of 40 and 70 yards. Wilson ran five times for 101 yards and added a 45-yard punt return for a score. Porter had 97 yards on five carries. Kevin McAvoy made four of his five PAT attempts.

Eric Daniels scored on a 15-yard run in the third quarter for Oak Hill.

At Mount Desert, Anthony Witham had 77 yards on six carries with a touchdown as the Hornets of Turner Center held the Trojans without a first down in the win.

Broc Hardacker scored two touchdowns on runs of 40 and 5 yards. Tyler Angell and Matt Cote each tossed a pair of scores.

Andy Leiser recorded nine tackles for MDI.
