WEST POINT, N.Y. – The University of Maine won its first match of the Army Invitational volleyball tournament, beating St. Peter’s of Jersey City, N.J., 30-21, 30-15, 30-15.
The Black Bears, who improved their record to 2-6, were led by Carmen Morgan with 10 kills, four assists, six digs, and three blocks, while Shelly Seipp notched 21 assists.

Sacred Heart 2, Maine 1
At Fairfield, Conn., Carlos Caracas and Gustavo Netto each scored first-half goals as 1-5 Sacred Heart prevailed.
Matt Weston and Chris Marchese had two saves on 11 shots for the winners.
Kevin Forgett scored for the 1-2-1 Black Bears. Chad Mongeon had five saves on 12 shots.
Women’s soccer
Seton Hall 1, Maine 0
At South Orange, N.J., Beth Troutman scored in the first half as the Pirates blanked the Black Bears.
Amanda Becker made six saves on 14 shots for 4-1-2 Seton Hall.
Tanya Adorno stopped six out of nine shots for the 4-2-1 Black Bears.
