BANGOR – AARP Maine and the Eastern Agency on Aging will be hosts of a forum Tuesday on the future of Social Security.

The event will run from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Spectacular Event Center, 395 Griffin Road.

Marie Smith, national AARP president, as well as local representatives will answer questions about AARP’s views on proposed changes in Social Security.

A poll released in August by AARP found that 86 percent of voters age 45 and older feel protecting Social Security should be a high priority when Congress returns to Washington in January.

AARP members and others are encouraged to attend and will have the opportunity to ask questions or share concerns.
