READFIELD – Wes Gagne’s two-yard touchdown run in overtime lifted the Maine Central Institute Huskies to a 14-8 high school football victory over the Maranacook Black Bears Saturday.

Russell Lawn rallied MCI of Pittsfield with 9:09 left in regulation when he scored on a 12-yard run and ran in the 2-point conversion.

Maranacook had a chance with the first drive in overtime but penalties pushed the Black Bears to the 14-yard line. Quarterback Luke St. Pierre’s pass on fourth down fell incomplete. St. Pierre gave Maranacook an early lead with a 6-yard touchdown run.

Dexter 21, John Bapst 14

At Dexter, Eric Day shined on offense and defense, completing five passes for 94 yards and a touchdown and picking off three Crusader passes, as the Tigers held off John Bapst.

Day also went 3-for-3 on PAT attempts and had a combined 81 yards on his three interception returns. Chris Rabideau caught a 51-yard TD pass from Day. Mark Pullen caught three passes for 48 yards and added 50 yards on nine carries. Billy Greene had 19 carries for 53 yards, including a touchdown that put the game out of reach. Blake Woodruff had nine tackles.

Travis Carey scored on a seven-yard run for the Crusaders of Bangor and Corey Patterson caught a 45-yard pass from George Keefe as Bapst tried to rally in the fourth quarter.

Fort Kent 2, Brewer 1

At Fort Kent, Nicole Levesque had a second-half goal off an assist from Lindsay Cyr to break a 1-1 tie. Sarah Dubay scored first for Fort Kent, with an assist by Sarah Pinette. Kelsie Bouchard saved 14 of 16 shots.

Haley Quirk scored for the Witches and Anna Bean made 13 saves on 16 shots.

JV: 1-1

Caribou 3, Ellsworth 1

At Caribou, Jacky Raymond, Monica Selander and Daniele Ouellette each notched a goal. Stephanie Schofield, Ali Richards and Michelle Ouellete each had an assist. Billie Martin had eight saves on 14 shots.

Jen Richter scored unassisted for the Eagles and Catie Cravens saved six of 13 shots.

JV: Caribou 2-0.

Presque Isle 9, Foxcroft 0

At Presque Isle, Kylan Smith, Emily Robertson, Natasha Deschene and Nikki James each scored two goals. Katie Delong also scored for 8-0 Presque Isle. Smith also made two assists and Robertson had one. Brianna Young and Molly Hamel combined to stop two Foxcroft shot.

Bryanna Collins stopped 14 of 23 shots for the 2-2 Ponies.

Houlton 4, Calais 0

At Houlton, Danielle Sewell had a hat trick as the Shiretowners cruised. Sarah Harbison also scored a goal, Keegan Hovey made two assists and Jillian Miller made one. Nicole Manton shutout both two shots she faced for 3-4-2 Houlton.

Stephanie Perry stopped 18 of 23 shots for 2-2 Calais.

Piscataquis 3, Penquis 2

At Guilford, Whitney Sinclair scored three goals and Victoria Tracy had one assist for the Pirates.

Jill Martell had 10 saves on 12 shots for 3-0-1 PCHS.

Erin Beasley and Kate Hamlin scored unassisted for the 1-4-1 Patriots of Milo. Michelle Mulherin stopped 18 out of 21 shots.

Boys soccer

Fort Kent 2, Brewer 0

At Fort Kent, Bud Soucy and Derek Bonenfant each notched a goal as the Warriors came away with the win. Derek Plourde stopped all seven shots he faced for 5-3-1 Fort Kent.

Ben Davis made 11 saves on 15 shots for the 2-3 Witches.

Presque Isle 5, Foxcroft 0

At Presque Isle, Chris Carlin scored two goals and assisted on two others as the Wildcats earned their sixth win.

Nate Carter chipped in with a goal and two assists while Greg Whitaker and Andy Greaves each contributed a goal. Jon Wildeman had an assist and Brad Baker made five saves on five shots for 6-1 Presque Isle.

James Tirrell stopped 11 of 16 shots for the 3-2 Ponies.

Ellsworth 1, Caribou 0

At Caribou, Demetrios Katsiaficas knocked in the game-winner with 12:41 left in the first half to boost the Eagles. Cory Smith made 10 saves on 13 shots for 4-1 Ellsworth. Brad Ala stopped eight of 17 shots for 6-3 Caribou.

JV: Ellsworth 3-2

Houlton 3, Schenck 2 (OT)

At East Millinocket, Ian Pasquarelli scored all three of the Shiretowners goals, including the winner in overtime. Ryan Brewer assisted one of Pasquarelli’s goals and Eben Thompson made 11 saves on 15 shots for 3-5-1 Houlton.

Will Hamlin scored and added an assist on a goal by Aaron Waite for the 3-2-1 Wolverines. Lanny Thompson faced 14 shots and stopped seven.
