EDDINGTON – The owner of Clewley Farm Restaurant would like to serve beer and has applied for a malt liquor license.
Town leaders reviewed the application on Tuesday and set a public hearing on the matter for 6 p.m. on Oct. 5, the next regular selectmen’s meeting.
“I think this would be our first liquor license” if approved, Town Manager Russell Smith said Tuesday. “He wants to serve beer only, with meals.”
The restaurant, owned by Lawrence Clewley, is located at 990 Main Road and is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The state actually would issue the license, but the town needs to approve before the application can go forward.
There are three other upcoming meeting dates that residents need to be aware of, Smith said.
. Oct. 2 is the annual Household Hazardous Waste Day. Permits to dispose of hazardous materials, at no cost to residents, and a complete list of what can be disposed of are available at the town office.
. Oct. 7 the town office will be closed so staff and Smith can attend the annual Maine Municipal Association convention in Augusta.
. Oct. 19, a public hearing will be held at 6 p.m. before the scheduled selectmen’s meeting to discuss the town’s comprehensive plan. Residents also will discuss whether the community should use approximately $25,000 from the road reserve fund and $25,000 from the major road reserve account to repair roads this year.
The money would pay for paving the lower end of Chemo Pond Road and for reconstruction work on Levenseller Road. Smith said the projects “may not happen until next year” because of timing and ongoing projects in the area. The meeting will be held at Comins Hall, 1387 Main Road.
. Nov. 16, a special town meeting will held at 6 p.m. to discuss and vote on approving the town’s comprehensive plan and the road project funds. The meeting will be held at Comins Hall, 1387 Main Road.
