Martels power Patriots’ victory

GUILFORD – Sophomore Kelsey Martel scored off an assist from twin sister Kellie Martel on a penalty corner with no time remaining as Piscataquis Community knocked off Dexter 2-1 for the first time in several years in high school field hockey action.

Nikki Chapman had staked

5-2 Dexter to the lead with an unassisted first-half goal, but Piscataquis countered with Sharon Ortiz’s goal off a Kristi Levesque assist.

Amy Knowlton made three saves on five shots for the 8-0 Pirates. Dexter’s Cristy McGowen made five saves on 14 shots.

Orono 2, Central 1 (2OT)

At Orono, Emily Artesani scored on a Stacey Scott assist two minutes into the second overtime to give the Red Riots the victory.

Emily Sypher scored on a Jessica Bates assist for the 5-2 Riots. Ana Blagojevik made 15 saves on 16 shots.

Mackie Davis scored via a Beth Dauphinee assist for 3-5 Central of Corinth. Kara Voisine saved 22 of 24 shots.

Stearns 3, Hermon 1

At Hermon, Trisha MacDonald scored two goals to lead Stearns of Millinocket to victory.

Holly Franck also scored for the 4-3 Minutemen. Deanna Michaud stopped nine of 15 shots.

Jessica Deprey scored for 1-5 Hermon on an assist from Nicole Thompson. Meagan McCready made nine saves on 12 shots.

Leavitt 4, Mount View 1

At Thorndike, Tiffany Colard knocked in three goals as the Hornets of Turner rolled.

Catelyn Beckal scored for 3-4 Leavitt. Krista Schepper made five saves on six shots.

Mollie Aruto scored for the 3-4 Mustangs. Carrie Beverage had three saves on seven shots.

Girls soccer

John Bapst 5, Brewer 0

At Bangor, Ashley Sanford scored two goals as John Bapst improved its record to 4-1-1.

Ellen Juskewitch, Elaine Colwell and Haley Cutri also scored for the Crusaders, while Caroline Cassling stopped all four shots she faced.

Anna Bean stopped 30 of 35 shots for 1-5 Brewer.

Lee 8, Penquis 1

At Milo, Shelby Pickering knocked in four goals and Aarika Ritchie scored two more as the Pandas rolled.

Marci Moors and Kimmy Thurlow added a goal each for 7-0 Lee Academy. Jackie Moors made five saves on seven shots.

Jessica Cahl scored her first varsity goal for the 0-5-1 Patriots. Michelle Mulherin stopped eight of 18 shots.

Orono 3, Foxcroft 0

At Orono, Katie Glencross had a goal plus an assist as the 1-4-1 Red Riots prevailed.

Laura Benoit and Lindsey Colbath each added goals and Sarah Balaban an assist for Orono. Amanda Morrison and Heather Woodbury combined for six saves on 10 shots.

Brianne Collins made 14 saves on 18 shots for the 3-3 Ponies.

Central 1, Bangor Christian 1

At Corinth, Brooke Hale scored with 5:50 left in regulation as the Patriots earned a double-overtime tie.

Lindsay Mitchell scored for 2-2-1 Central and Nicole Daniel made 12 saves on 18 shots.

Johannah Kutz made 14 saves on 20 shots for 3-2-2 Bangor Christian.

Dexter 3, DI-Stonington 1

At Deer Isle, Jana Kenney scored two goals to carry the Tigers to victory.

Lindsay Burton tallied a goal for Dexter. Ashley Richardson made one save on two shots.

Claire Eaton had the goal for Deer Isle-Stonington. Regyn Lawry had 21 saves on 24 shots.

Penobscot Valley 1, GSA 0

At Howland, Morgan Cyr scored an unassisted goal with 12:40 left to lift the Howlers.

Jen Plourde made 10 saves on 11 shots for 5-1 Penobscot Valley while Kayla Eaton stopped 12 of 21 shots for 2-4-1 George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill.

Narraguagus 2, Calvary Chapel 1

At Harrington, Amanda Cirone scored with two minutes left in the game to give the Knights the victory.

Amanda Kennedy scored for 3-3-1 Narraguagus. Alicia Tenney made 13 saves on 15 shots.

Chauntel Veilleux scored for 3-2 Calvary Chapel of Orrington. Jessica Graves made eight saves on 12 shots for the Sabers.

Bucksport 2, Hampden 1

At Bucksport, Lindsey Gordon and Britnni Adams had goals and Cassie Gourley posted two assists as the Golden Bucks edged the Broncos.

Katie Hurd had five saves on eight shots for 3-1 Bucksport.

Isabel Cravens scored for 6-1 Hampden Academy. Becca Workman stopped four of 11 shots.

Searsport 4, Piscataquis 2

At Guilford, Nori Francis-Mezger scored two unassisted goals to lead the undefeated Vikings to victory.

Kelsey Walsh and Theresa Cameron scored for 7-0 Searsport and April Pickering made 16 saves on 20 shots.

Whitney Sinclair scored unassisted for 3-2-1 Piscataquis and Christine Davis scored off a Myra Littlefield assist. Jill Martell made 19 saves on 23 shots.

Boys soccer

Hampden 4, Bucksport 0

At Hampden, Natapong Kongsuriya scored two goals as the Broncos won.

J. Uhrin and Poppy Sankla scored for 7-0 Hampden Academy, while Peter Alexander posted two assists and Andre Cushing one. Max Silver made two saves on two shots.

Miles Bisher made 12 saves on 21 shots for 0-5-1 Bucksport.

Hermon 3, Old Town 1

At Old Town, Ryan Tarr scored a goal and assisted on another to help the Hawks beat the Indians.

Joey Carmichael and Chris Archer tallied one goal each for 4-4 Hermon. Corey Stanhope made 15 saves on 18 shots.

Jacob Shanley was credited with the goal for 2-4-1 Old Town. Dustin Marley and Sam Petrie combined to make 11 saves on 16 shots.

Foxcroft 2, Orono 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, James Tirrell made seven saves on 11 shots to earn his first shutout of the season for the Ponies.

Mitch Sawyer had a goal and an assist for 4-3 Foxcroft, while Don Shin also scored.

Mat Lint made 11 saves on 17 shots for 1-4-1 Orono.

East Grand 7, Highview Chr. 0

At Charleston, Ricky Parks and Tyler Langill each scored two goals as East Grand of Danforth earned the victory.

Kaleb Dicker, Isaiah Gillis and Kyle Dicker scored for the 1-4 Vikings, while Zach Faulkner made 13 saves on 17 shots.

Wesley Jones made 14 saves on 26 stops for 1-3-1 Highview Christian.

Greenville 4, Valley 0

At Greenville, Kyle Belmont had one goal and one assist to help the Lakers beat the Cavaliers.

Jeff Farrington, Kevin Bradford and Jonah Lizotte scored a goal apiece for the 6-1 Lakers. Durgin McKusick provided an assist. Brandon Lavigne made one save on one shot.

Eric Hatfield made 11 saves on 23 shots for 1-4-1 Valley of Bingham.
