Bangor police looking for drunken drivers set up two roadblocks Friday night.

At 10:45 p.m., police began stopping all northbound vehicles at a roadblock on Main Street near Miller’s Restaurant. The officers planned to move to a second location on Interstate 395 sometime after midnight.

Brewer police arrested a transient Wednesday night who allegedly admitted the truck he was driving was stolen.

Charles King, 45, was pulled over on the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge at 11:20 p.m. for running a blinking red light at the intersection of Wilson and Main streets, according to police. When asked to provide his license, registration and proof of insurance, King said, “I don’t have any of those and the car is stolen,” according to police.

A check of the Indiana license plate on the 1998 Ford F150 confirmed that the vehicle was stolen. King provided identification from Alaska and New Hampshire, but he did not have a valid license, according to police.

King was arrested for unauthorized use of property and for driving without a license. He also allegedly told police he had gassed up at numerous filling stations without paying on his way to Maine from Indiana.

A 12-year-old boy was hospitalized Wednesday after he was assaulted at the Washington Street School in Brewer.

The boy was held down and kicked by four other boys at approximately 4 p.m., according to police. One of the assailants who was still at the school when police arrived provided the names of the other three involved.

All four assailants, three juveniles and William Fongeallaz, 18, of Brewer, were summoned for assault.

The victim was treated at Eastern Maine Medical Center for bruises and a bump on his head, according to police.

A Veazie restaurant was robbed of $100 in change sometime Wednesday night, according to police.

Someone entered the Stone House Cafe on State Street through an unlocked window and took the change from a decorative jar and a charity donation can, according to police. The burglary was reported at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Some evidence was taken from the scene and police are working to identify possible suspects.
