YARMOUTH – Heather Hathorn and Marie-Andree Canuel scored first-half goals two minutes, 36 seconds apart to propel the Maine Black Bears to a 2-0 women’s soccer win over Rider Friday night.
Tanya Adorno made three saves on nine shots to post her fourth shutout of the season and the 14th of her career for UMaine, now 6-2-1.
Hathorn, of Scarborough, connected on a direct kick at the 19:57 mark, then Canuel scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season when she redirected a Jordon Pekrul corner kick into the net at 22:33.
Kim Carter made three saves on 15 shots for 4-2-1 Rider.

Unity 4, CMCC 1
At Unity, Daryl Aresco scored two goals and assisted on another to lead Unity past Central Maine Community College of Auburn.
John Korkus and Matt Belonick both scored a goal for the 4-2 Rams. Ben Skely and Peter Taliaferro each added an assist as Tyler Ferguson stopped two of six shots.
Alban Karamezi had an unassisted goal for the 4-2 Mustangs, and Matt Wilson had nine saves on 16 shots.
