PRESQUE ISLE – A Connecticut realty corporation plans to build a Home Depot-anchored shopping center adjacent to the Aroostook Center Mall, according to a press release faxed to the media Friday afternoon.

First Hartford Realty Corp. plans to build the 140,000-square-foot center on about 22 acres of land on Fort Fairfield Road. The center would include The Home Depot, several retailers and a sit-down restaurant, and employ an estimated 200 people, according to the release.

The developer plans to submit a site plan to the city next week. If approved, construction would begin in early spring with an expected opening in late fall 2005.

This August, First Hartford Realty Corp. broke ground on a 234,000-square-foot shopping center in Bangor, planned to open in fall 2005.
