DOVER, Del. – Andy Santerre of Cherryfield clinched a record third straight NASCAR Busch North Series championship on Friday with a fifth-place finish in the MBNA America 150 at Dover International Speedway.
Santerre needed only to finish one spot ahead of second-in-points Mike Olsen of North Haverhill, N.H., to claim the championship with one race remaining on the schedule. Olsen finished ninth.
Dale Quarterley of Westfield, Mass., took the win, his second of the season. Paul Wolfe of Milford, N.Y., finished second, Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Mass., was third, and Mike Stefanik of Coventry, R.I., finished fourth.
Other Maine finishers included: 6. Mike Gallo (Sanford), 8. Tracy Gordon (Strong), 14. Ryan Moore (Scarborough), 15. Kelly Moore (Scarborough), 21. Bill Penfold (Yarmouth).
