BOYS

Big School (Classes A-B)

DYLAN GEORGE

George, a junior striker for the Bangor soccer team, scored three goals in two matches as the Rams extended their winning streak to eight matches. George scored one goal in a 3-2 victory against Presque Isle, then had two goals as Bangor defeated cross-town rival Brewer 4-1. George now has 18 goals for the 8-1 Rams, the top-ranked team in Eastern Maine Class A.

Small School (Classes C-D)

JAMES McCARTHY

McCarthy, a senior midfielder for the Machias soccer team, scored eight goals in three games as the defending state Class D champion Bulldogs remained undefeated with wins against Washington Academy, Woodland and Calais. McCarthy had three goals as Machias defeated rival WA 5-1 in a battle of unbeatens and scored four goals in a 4-0 win at Calais. McCarthy had 14 goals and five assists through the Bulldogs’ 8-0 start.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

ERIKA GETCHELL

The John Bapst field hockey junior scored two goals in a key 3-0 win over Hampden Tuesday and had one in a 3-1 win over Brewer Monday. The Crusaders are now 7-1-1.

Small School (Classes C-D)

SHELBY PICKERING

Pickering, a senior striker for the Lee soccer team, scored 10 goals in three games as the defending Class D state champion Pandas moved to 7-0. She had five goals against previously undefeated Penobscot Valley, four against Penquis and one in a win over Schenck. Pickering has 145 in her career.
