DEXTER – Local police arrested two men on Tuesday on warrants.

Brent Cunningham, 26, of Dexter was arrested by Cpl. Kevin Wintle on charges of burglary and assault in connection with a 6 p.m. incident Tuesday at 99 Church St.

Dexter Police Chief Art Roy said Cunningham allegedly assaulted a resident there after entering the home without permission. During the arrest, police learned that Cunningham had a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court.

Police also arrested Alberto Sanchez, 22, of Dexter on a warrant for failure to appear. Sanchez’s arrest came after Cpl. Alan Grinnell went to a fight at a Lincoln Street residence and learned that Sanchez had been there, Roy said.

Both Sanchez and Cunningham were taken to Penobscot County Jail.
