SANFORD – A 24-year-old woman made her initial court appearance Wednesday after her arrest for allegedly leaving the scene of a drunken driving accident in Sanford that took the life of a pedestrian.

Police said Jeannine Nobert of Sanford had been drinking when her vehicle struck Robert Bourque, 35, as he was walking along the side of Route 4 Tuesday afternoon. Police found Nobert about a half-mile from the scene of the crash.

Nobert is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and aggravated OUI. Sanford police Maj. Lori Black said more charges are pending and the case is expected to go before the York County grand jury.

Police said that Nobert pleaded guilty last May to drunken driving, and that they are awaiting the results of a blood alcohol test.
