Two women injured in two-car accident in Bangor

Two women were injured Friday in a two-car accident on Main Street in Bangor.

Nellie M. Lagasse, 23, of Milford, was turning left out of the Miller’s Restaurant parking lot when at 5:30 p.m. her 1995 Plymouth was struck by an oncoming southbound vehicle driven by Charles E. Hartz, 52, of Hampden, according to reports.

As Hartz approached the passing lane on Main Street, a driver in the right lane stopped and waved Lagasse out of the parking lot, according to reports. Both of Lagasse’s air bags deployed when the vehicles collided.

Lagasse and her passenger, Cheryl Miller, were treated and then released Friday from Eastern Maine Medical Center, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Both Lagasse’s car and Hartz’s 1992 Toyota were destroyed, according to police.

A man who was pulled over for traffic offenses in Brewer Thursday night was arrested after he allegedly threatened an officer, spit in the back of a police cruiser and was found in possession of a switchblade knife.

Officer Rodney Gerald stopped Richard Frappier Jr., 22, of Kenduskeag at 11:45 p.m. in the Bangor-Brewer Bowling Lanes parking lot after Frappier ran a red light and traveled 40 mph in a 25-mph zone on Wilson Street, Gerald said.

Gerald checked the man’s license after Frappier got out of his car and refused to get back in. Frappier then refused to complete field sobriety testing and was arrested for operating after suspension, Gerald said.

While in the back of the police cruiser, Frappier began yelling, thrashing and spitting, and allegedly threatened he would later find Gerald and hurt him. Gerald searched the man’s car, which he said smelled of alcohol, and found a switchblade knife under the passenger’s seat.

Frappier was charged with criminal threatening, criminal mischief, trafficking in dangerous knives and operating after suspension.

An Orono man was arrested for drug possession Thursday night after police stopped him in connection with a car theft.

Old Town police stopped Brandon Kahl, 20, at 10 p.m. on Stillwater Avenue after his ex-girlfriend reported that someone moved her car while it was parked at the high school.

Officers saw an unlabeled prescription pill bottle on Kahl’s car seat and searched the vehicle, according to police.

Police found two pills of Poasapan, which is a muscle relaxer and painkiller, and marijuana and a marijuana pipe inside the vehicle.

Kahl was arrested for unlawful possession of a Schedule Y drug, possession of a usable amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
