NEWTON, Mass. – Antwan Harris and Corey Doe each scored two touchdowns, and Ray MacGregor kicked the game-winning extra point as Mount Ida beat Husson 28-27 in Division III college football action on Saturday.

The Mustangs (2-2) came from behind twice after squandering a 14-0 lead, and Husson (0-5) was ahead 27-21 after Jason Jack’s 2-yard touchdown run with 10:55 left in the fourth quarter.

However, the Eagles of Bangor failed to convert the PAT kick.

Doe got his second touchdown for Mount Ida with 3:51 left, and MacGregor blasted the game-winning PAT.

Ryan Price and Calvin Conyers each posted 11 tackles for Mount Ida, while Josh Nowlin of Husson had 16.

At Dudley, Mass., Michael Carven passed for 200 yards and a touchdown and ran for two more as Nichols beat Maine Maritime Academy of Castine in a New England Football Conference game.

Carven ran 33 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter and added a 3-yard TRD run and a 13-yard pass to Daragh McCann in the second as Nichols (2-3) took a 21-0 halftime lead.

Misbah Karim rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown and Chris Gika returned a punt 46 yards for a score.

The Mariners slipped to 1-4 while being limited to five first downs and 56 total yards while committing four turnovers.

Colby 23, Middlebury 6

At Waterville, Colby Quarterback Justin Smith completed 20 of 29 passes and threw for 242 yards and a touchdown as the Mules defeated Middlebury.

He connected with Nial DeMena for a 10-yard TD in the second quarter, and DeMena added a TD of his own with a 1-yard run in the first.

Chris Bashaw’s 40-yard TD run in the fourth added the final points for Colby (1-1, 1-1 NESCAC). He led the Mules in rushing, with 60 yards on 14 carries.

Mike Keenan put Middlebury (1-1, 1-1) on the board with a 3-yard TD pass to Jamie Staples in the third. Keenan completed 21 of 41 for 207 yards.

Middlebury gained 251 yards to Colby’s 333, losing 51 yards on five penalties and 14 yards on a sack.

At Somerville, Mass., Jason Casey threw two touchdown passes as Tufts beat Bates.

Tufts (1-1) capitalized on a Bates fumble to take a 7-0 lead as Casey connected with Brian VonAncken two plays later for a 31-yard score.

Tufts capped a 53-yard, nine-play drive with Kevin Holland scoring on a 20-yard pass, making it 14-0 at halftime.

Bates (0-2) cut the margin to 14-6 early in the fourth quarter, as Eric Obeng ran in a touchdown from the 1-yard line. Bates gained possession at their own 25 and marched 75 yards for another touchdown by Obeng.

The win was Tufts’ 19th in a row against Bates dating back to 1985.

At Brunswick, Fletcher Ladd scored his second touchdown on a 5-yard run in double overtime, giving Amherst the win over Bowdoin despite a three-TD rally by the Polar Bears in the game’s final minutes.

Amherst took a 21-7 lead with three TDs in the second, one on a 95-yard run by Ladd.

Quarterback Mark Moseley added two more TDs for the Jeffs (2-0).

Amherst led 28-7 in the fourth until Bowdoin (0-2) added three TDs in the final 51/2 minutes. Matt Boyd began the comeback march with a 1-yard TD run, capping a five-play, 65-yard drive.

Bowdoin quarterback Ricky Leclerc added the next TD on a 1-yard run with 54 seconds left after completing 7 of 11 passes for 71 yards. He tied the game with a 5-yard pass to Jeff Nolin with 15 seconds left.

Leclerc also had Bowdoin’s TD in the first, an 11-yard pass to Brian Durant.
