A Belfast man suffering from a case of road rage Saturday was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon after a traffic incident, Brewer police said.
Brewer police Cpl. David Lord said Sunday that Ervin Arbo, 60, of Belfast became angry when he was cut off in traffic around 9 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of North Main and Wilson streets.
The driver of the car that reportedly cut off Arbo’s van became scared and called police after Arbo allegedly pointed a gun at him, Lord said.
When police arrived, Arbo didn’t have the weapon, but Lord said a loaded .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun was found in the front seat of Arbo’s vehicle.
Arbo, who had a concealed weapon permit for the gun, was arrested on a charge of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony. He is scheduled to appear in District Court in Bangor on Nov. 5.

Bangor police let a 21-year-old man go home with friends and a summons early Saturday morning after he reportedly pulled a fire alarm at Uno Chicago Grill near the Bangor Mall.
Officer John Robinson was called to assist the Bangor Fire Department. Two firetrucks were on the scene before firefighters learned it was a false alarm, the officer’s report said.
Robinson spoke with several witnesses outside Uno, including some of the suspect’s friends, who all confirmed that Benjamin Malo of Exeter pulled the alarm inside the restaurant.
The officer’s report said Malo was intoxicated and was trying to get away from firefighters when Robinson arrived.
Malo initially denied pulling the alarm but eventually confessed and apologized, Robinson’s report said. The officer let Malo go home with his friends, but issued him a summons for pulling the fire alarm.
