BANGOR – Artist Kristborg Whitney will be the guest of honor at a reception at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Borders, Bangor Mall Boulevard. Whitney’s paintings will be on display in the store’s cafe and children’s area from Oct. 1 to Nov. 30.

Whitney is a native of Iceland who has lived in Bangor for 17 years.

“All of the paintings,” she said, “are landscapes of angles and relationships and light, always light.” She works primarily in acrylics on canvas and panel. Her bold colors work to build complex images of depth and focus. Her most recent work has been smaller, almost celestial, paintings which evoke the Northern lights.

Whitney will have two major exhibits of her work in Iceland in 2005.
