The Maine Wildlife Park in Gray has a pair of events on tap for those who want to celebrate Halloween.

For those wishing to get into the Halloween spirit early, the park will host a Halloween Lunar Eclipse Night Hike on Oct. 27.

The hike will run from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The wildlife park will be open to the public, and volunteer guides will be stationed at several exhibits to talk about the animals’ night life.

Visitors are encouraged to bring flashlights, which volunteers will cover with red cellophane to improve night vision.

On Halloween night, the park’s last program of the season – a Halloween II Night Hike – will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Kids that wear their costumes will receive door prizes.

The regular admission fees will be charged for both night hikes. For more information, contact the park at 657-4977 or check out the Web site at www.mainewildlifepark.com or www.mefishwildlife.com.

Blue Hill club plans shoot

The Blue Hill Rifle and Pistol Club will hold its annual fall shoot on Oct. 17 beginning at 10 a.m.

Events planned include trap shooting, a .410 turkey shoot, an indoor shoot, running deer, standing deer, and archery.

There will also be a special cowboy action shooting demonstration.

Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

Wildlife forums on tap

Autumn is upon us and representatives of the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife will be traveling around the state in the coming weeks for a number of fish and wildlife forums.

The forums give citizens the chance to ask questions of the state’s top fish and wildlife officials, and to hear presentations from wardens, biologists, and other experts.

Among the topics to be covered: the bear referendum and management issues; fish stocking and other fisheries issues; new legislation; ATV issues; the pheasant program; and spring turkey hunting.

Upcoming fish and wildlife forums on tap:

. Oct. 21 at the Presque Isle Fish and Game Club, 7 p.m.

. Oct. 27 at the Bucks Mills Rod and Gun Club in Bucksport. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the meeting will start at about 7.
