Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Patrick D. Skall has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs, performed drill and ceremonial marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Skall is the son of Mary Drew of Orono. He is a 2002 graduate of Orono High School.

Navy Ensign Sara M. Burrill, daughter of a Winterport couple, recently participated with her crew mates in an emergency medical evacuation while operating in the Pacific aboard the guided-missile frigate USS Curts.

Burrill was involved in assisting the removal of a Coast Guard buoy tender crew member by helicopter from the USS Curts. The crew member was taken to a military hospital in San Diego.

Burrill’s ship has been deployed in support of counterdrug operations in the eastern Pacific.

A 2000 graduate of Hampden Academy, Burrill is the daughter of Steven and Bich Nga Burrill of Winterport.
