MADISON, Wis. – Billionaire George Soros is bringing his case against President Bush to Maine with large newspaper ads.

Soros’ ads contend that Bush is “endangering our safety, hurting our vital interests, and undermining American values.”

Soros, a Hungarian whose family fled the Nazis during World War II, has used his wealth to promote democratic causes around the world.

He claims Bush’s handling of the war in Iraq has turned world opinion against the United States and has made the nation less secure.

Soros, who also helped found the anti-Bush group Moveon.org, is targeting Maine along with other battleground states for his message.

The ad, which already ran in the Wall Street Journal, also is appearing in newspapers in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Iowa, New Mexico, Minnesota, Oregon, Wisconsin, Nevada and New Hampshire.
