Dexter’s second victory makes for a happy Day Quarterback leads Tigers by Bears

DEXTER – Eric Day booted five extra points, scored on a nine-yard touchdown run and fired a touchdown pass to lead the Dexter Tigers past Maranacook of Readfield 35-20 in Saturday football action.

Day finished 4-for-7 for 107 yards passing along with 44 yards rushing. Billy Green (17-92) was Dexter’s leading rusher. He scored one touchdown, as did Greg Knowlton (8-88). Mark Pullen (10-70) was on the receiving end of Day’s touchdown pass and he also ran for a score.

Luke St. Pierre passed for 251 yards and three touchdowns for Maranacook of Readfield. Sean Labbe had three catches for 186 yards, all for touchdowns.

Oak Hill 20, Hampden 16

At Hampden, Eric Daniels caught two touchdown passes from Gabe Fontaine, the second an 18-yarder in the fourth quarter, to give Oak Hill the victory.

Oak Hill scored two TDs in the first quarter, the first on a 46-yard run by Troy Jannelle and the second on a 26-yard pass from Fontaine to Daniels.

Hampden rallied in the second quarter with two touchdown passes from Chris Morris, the first an 11-yarder to Blaine Meehan and the second a 47-yarder to Justin Preston. The Broncos also recorded a safety.

Ramsey Lafayette paced the Hampden defense with 10 tackles and an assist while Sam Ratsakonsy had six tackles, six assists and recovered a fumble. Drew Chase added five tackles and five assists.

Piscataquis 2, Dexter 1

At Guilford, Kristi Levesque’s penalty corner goal lifted the Pirates to their 11th win (11-2).

Heather Tracey added a goal for PCHS. Amy Knowlton had six saves on 11 shots.

Megan Fogarty scored the lone goal for the Tigers. Christy McGowan stopped four out of eight shots.

Belfast 1, Mount View 0

At Thorndike, Kelsey Jacobson scored on a penalty stroke with 16:25 remaining in the first half to lift the Lions to the win.

Liz Anderson stopped both shots she faced for 13-0 Belfast.

Carrie Beverage stopped 12 out of 13 shots for the 4-8-1 Mustangs.

Orono 2, Central 1 (OT)

At Corinth, Emily Sypher’s unassisted goal off a breakaway, rebounded shot, and a put-back from close range with a minute left in overtime gave the visiting Red Riots the win.

Sypher also scored the first goal unassisted for 7-2-2 Orono. Anna Blagojevic saved three of six shots.

Hilary Haney scored unassisted and Kara Voisine made eight saves on 12 shots for the 4-7-2 Red Devils.

Camden Hills 7, Oak Hill 1

At Rockport, Gwen Maddox scored two goals and assisted on another to pace Camden Hills to victory over Oak Hill of Sabattus.

Marianne Croce had two goals for the 7-4-1 Windjammers. Jodi Newcombe had a goal and two assists. Lindsay Clement and Brydon Mitchell each had a goal and an assist. Dale Winsper made no saves on one shot.

Mae Nadeau had the lone goal for 0-13 Oak Hill and Frankie Curtis saved 12 of 20 shots.

Boys soccer

Dexter 1, Piscataquis 0

At Dexter, Danny Beatham scored off an assist from Tyler Sawyer with 22:05 left in the first to give the Tigers a homecoming victory.

Sam Bowers saved 12 of 14 shots for 6-5-1 Dexter.

Ryan Martell made 14 saves on 18 shots for the 5-6-1Pirates.

Calvary Chapel 7, Averill 0

At Hinckley, Rosiare Veilleux led the Sabers with two goals and two assists.

Beau Miller, Brock Bradford and Brandon Deans added a goal and an assist each. Brandon Scoville and Tyler Dean both scored once, while Andrew Lowe made on assist. Kalib Carmichael saved seven of ten shots for 5-1 Calvary Chapel.

Ashton Roy faced 17 shots, saving six for the 1-7-1 Beavers.

Hermon 2, Foxcroft 1

At Hermon, Ben Adams and Ryan Tarr scored unassisted for the Hawks in the win.

Corey Stanhope tallied seven saves on eight shots for 7-5 Hermon.

Mitch Sawyer had an unassisted goal for the 6-5-1 Ponies. James Tirrell stopped 11 out of 13 shots.

Brewer 1, Fort Kent 1 (2OT)

At Brewer, the Warriors and Witches played to a stalemate.

Corey Bragg scored off a Eric Whitney corner kick for 4-8-1 Brewer. Ben Davis had seven saves on eight shots.

Jared McBrearity scored unassisted for 7-3-2 Fort Kent. Derek Plourde stopped 13 of 14 shots.

JV: Fort Kent 3-0

Presque Isle 5, Orono 0

At Presque Isle, Greg Whittaker tallied two goals and an assist as the Wildcats rolled.

Chris Carlin notched a goal plus an assist for 10-2 PI while Sam Mathers and John Wildeman added a goal apiece. Brad Baker stopped all four shots he faced.

Matt Lint recorded 16 saves on 21 shots for the 1-9-2 Red Riots.

JV: Presque Isle 6-0

MDI 0, Ellsworth 0 (2OT)

At Mount Desert, the Trojans and the Eagles battled through double overtime to end up tied at 0-0.

Max Blanford made eight saves on 13 shots for 5-5-2 MDI. Cory Smith saved four of seven shots for 10-1-1 Ellsworth.

Girls soccer

Hampden 2, Caribou 2

At Caribou, Kathleen Moore and Isabel Cravens scored for Hampden as they played to a double-overtime tie with Caribou.

Michelle Murray and Jenna Shue added assists for the 8-2-1 Broncos. Becca Workman made four saves on 11 shots.

Shelby Cousins and Michelle Ouellette scored off passes from Steph Scofield and Ali Richards for the 5-4-3 Vikings. Billie Martin stopped 14 out of 21 shots.

JV: Hampden 4-1

Presque Isle 5, Orono 1

At Presque Isle, Natasha Deschene scored a goal and made an assist as the Wildcats extended their unbeaten streak to 13 games.

Katie Delong, Kylan Smith, Rachel Blackstone and Angela Norsworthy each scored one goal for 13-0 Presque Isle. Molly Hamel faced three shots, saving two.

Heather Woodbury made the 1-7-3 Red Riot’s only goal and Katie Weatherbee made 12 saves on 18 shots.
