Two businesses at the Brewer Shopping Center on Wilson Street were broken into and robbed Wednesday morning.
An undetermined amount of cash, including quarters from a vending machine, was stolen from Gold Star Cleaners and the Insurance Shoppers between 6 and 7 a.m., according to Brewer Cpl. David Lord. Heavy rear doors were pried open at both businesses, which were closed at the time of the burglaries.
The theft is unusual because it happened during daylight hours, Lord said. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sgt. Jay Munson at 989-7000.
Bangor police are looking for a purse-snatcher who assaulted a woman Monday at the Hannaford supermarket on Union Street.
The 60-year-old woman was putting groceries into her car at 7:15 p.m. when the suspect pushed her, grabbed her purse and ran off, according to police.
The woman could not provide a complete description of the man, who was not armed and got away with less than $100 in cash.
Police have not identified any suspects in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Jeff Small at 947-7382, ext. 255.
