DeYcaza propels Husson to victory

WATERVILLE – Beatriz DeYcaza scored a goal and assisted on two others to lift the Husson College women’s soccer team to a 6-0 victory over Thomas Wednesday in college action.

Elissa Gordon and Shelby Morissette each had a goal and an assist for the 6-4-2 Eagles. Kaylin Caron, Deidra Ham, and Laura Clarke each had a goal. Leah Drew made four saves on six shots.

Jessie Craft and Dani Searles combined to stop five of 22 shots.

Colby 3, Saint Joseph’s 0

At Standish, Libba Cox scored three goals to push the White Mules.

Kaitlun Herlihy, Liz Morbeck, and Lauren Goethels each had an assist for 6-3-1 Colby. Liza Benson made two saves on three shots.

Shana Howard and Cheryl Northrop stopped four of seven shots for 6-5-1 Saint Joseph’s.

UM-Farmington 2, Swarthmore 1

At Farmington, Erin Campbell scored two goals as the Beavers earned the win.

Jodie Welch and Molly Hagstrom each had an assist for 7-4-2 UM-Farmington. Melissa DeMerchant and Kerry Kowalczyk combined to two saves on four shots.

Rachel Jordan made five saves on nine shots for 3-10-1 Swarthmore.

UM-Machias 2, Unity 0

At Unity, Sara Ricker scored two minutes into the first half off of a Cathy Wilson assist as the Clippers blanked the Rams.

Christina Rich added a second half goal for 7-1 UM-Machias and Angela Qualey stopped all four shots.

Christine Blakesley stopped 23 of 25 shots for 2-7 Unity.

Men’s soccer

UMFK 3, UMPI 1

At Fort Kent, Donatas Sumyla scored two goals, including one on a penalty kick, to lead UM-Fort Kent.

Anthony Lamarr scored the second goal for the 9-1-2 Bengals. Nick Thibodeau saved four of eight shots.

For the 3-11 Owls, Jay Johnson scored three minutes into the game. Braden Dragomir made eight saves on 17 shots.

Husson 2, Thomas 0

At Waterville, Tom Nevuc scored a second-half goal at 75:47 to lead the Eagles past the Terriers.

Oscar Ody added a goal at 84:25 for 6-5 Husson of Bangor. Matt Goodman made seven saves on 14 shots.

Ryan Conrad stopped seven of 23 shots for 3-7-1 Thomas.

St. Joseph’s 1, Swarthmore 0

At Lewiston Tuesday, John Flynn scored on a Kyler Hengst assist at 30:02 in the first half to lift the Monks.

Brian White made seven saves on 15 shots for 5-6-1 St. Joseph’s.

Ryan Sutccliffe stopped four of six shots for 8-3-1 Swarthmore.

Field hockey

Colby 6, Southern Maine 0

At Waterville, Wendy Bonner and Emily Lawrence each scored two goals to help Colby College to the win.

Kyla Wagman and Jessica Egan both added a goal for Colby. Melissa Mullen had two assist as Molly Rice stopped the only shot she faced.

Caternia Tiitano made 26 saves on 32 shots for the University of Southern Maine.

UM-Farmington 4, UNE 2

At Biddeford, Becky Christiansen scored a pair of goals and Kristin Allen had a pair of assists as the University of Maine-Farmington triumphed.

Mary Sinclair and Kristy Veazie had the other UMF goals, Sarah Greenwald had an assist and Ashleigh Biette made three saves.

Sarah Meyer and Ruth Ness scored for the University of New England and Krystal Wysocki finished with 11 saves.

Bowdoin 5, Bates 0

At Brunswick, Taryn King scored a goal and assisted another to help lead Bowdoin College to the win.

Colleen McDonald, Christi Gannon, Hillary Hoffman, and Marissa O’Neil each had a goal for 6-3 Bowdoin. Kate Leonard stopped all four shots.

Sarah Judice made nine saves on 17 shots for 3-7 Bates College.
