LINCOLN – Jamie Johnson scored the game-winning goal with less than a minute remaining in the second overtime period to lift the Stearns field hockey team to a 2-1 win over Mattanawcook in high school action Wednesday.

Johnson also scored midway through the second half to give the 10-4 Minutemen of Millinocket a lead. Heather Gulesian tied it with about five minutes left in regulation for the 5-7-2 Lynx.

Deanna Michaud made five saves on nine shots for Stearns. Melanie Markie and Sarah French combined for six saves on 12 shots for MA.

Orono 1, Bangor 0

At Orono, Emily Sypher scored an unassisted goal in the second half as the Red Riots tipped the Rams.

Ana Blagojevic stopped 10 of 16 shots for 10-3-1 Orono, while Sarah Hanselman had 18 saves on 22 shots for 3-11 Bangor.

Dexter 7, Old Town 0

At Dexter, Meagan Fogarty scored four goals and assisted on another to pace Dexter.

Nikki Chapman had a goal and two assists; Brandi Alton had a goal and an assist and Michelle Chapman had the other goal. Vanessa Hartford and Nicci Burton had assists and Cristy McGowen made five saves on seven shots.

Kitty Campbell made five saves on 15 shots for 4-10 Old Town.

JV: Dexter 2-1

John Bapst 2, Central 0

At Bangor, Ashley Freeman scored two goals to lead John Bapst to the victory.

Meredith Atkinson made 13 saves on 16 shots for 11-2-1 John Bapst.

Tiffany Tilton stopped four of seven shots for 4-8-2 Central of Corinth.

JV: 2-2

Hampden1, Hermon 0

At Hampden, Erika Veinote scored the game-winning goal off of a Amy Ryder assist with 21:16 left in the first half to give Hampden to the victory.

Caoline Samp stopped the only shot that she faced for 9-5 Hampden.

Megan McCready made 30 of 31 shots for 1-13 Hermon.

Boys soccer

Bangor 3, John Bapst 1

At Bangor, Dylan George, Austin Smith, and JoJo Hwalek each scored a goal to help lead Bangor past John Bapst.

Adam Towne had two assists for 11-1-1 Bangor and Cam Cormier had an assist. Aaron Taft stopped five of 11 shots.

Pat Kane scored with 23 minutes left in the first half for 4-8-2 John Bapst. Chris Smith made 10 saves on 19 shots.

JV: Bangor 2-0

Hampden 3, Brewer 0

At Brewer, Max Silver stopped all seven shots he faced as the undefeated Broncos shut out the Witches.

Martin Earley scored twice for 12-0-1 Hampden and Billy Shannon added a goal.

Ben Davis made 11 saves on 14 shots for 4-9-1 Brewer.

Central 3, Penquis 0

At Corinth, Will Fenn scored a goal and assisted another to boost the Red Devils to the win.

Josh Underhill and Joe Faggiole each had a goal for 7-4-2 Central. Joey Kane and Nick Elliott both had an assist. Charles Haney made 11 saves on 17 shots.

Drew Hamlin stopped 16 of 25 shots for 5-8 the Patriots of Milo.

Piscataquis 3, Foxcroft 2

At Dover-Foxcroft, Adam White scored with 30 seconds left in regulation as the Pirates of Guilford tipped the Ponies.

Ben Webb and Jarrod Robinson each chipped in with a goal for 6-6-1 Piscataquis. Ryan Martell made 15 saves on 17 shots.

Nick Briggs scored off an assist from Don Shin with 1:30 left in the game to tie it at 2-2. Albert Kim scored a first-half goal and James Tirrell stopped nine of 12 shots for 6-6-1 Foxcroft.

Lee 2, Penobscot Valley 0

At Lee, Rick Kim scored on a Gerry Worster assist with 13:44 left in the first half to give Lee Academy the win.

Jake Kang added a second half goal off of a Kim assist for 12-1 Lee. Kris King made six saves on 10 shots.

Josh Ireland stopped 17 of 27 shots for 5-7-1 Penobscot Valley of Howland.

Girls soccer

Hampden 1, Brewer 0

At Hampden, Annie Lafayette scored off an assist from Isabel Cravens with 28:51 left in the first half as the Broncos avenged a loss to the Witches earlier this season.

Becca Workman earned her fifth shutout, making one save on one shot for 9-3-1 Hampden.

Carolyn Tuck and Anna Bean combined to stop 19 of 29 shots for 2-11-1 Brewer.

John Bapst 5, Foxcroft Acad. 2

At Dover-Foxcroft, Jocelyn Bunker scored three goals to help lead John Bapst of Bangor to the win.

Elaine Colwell had a goal and an assist for the 5-6-2 Crusaders and Taylor Greenlaw had an assist. Molly Jones and Ashley Sanford each had an assist. Andrle Katie made six saves on 11 shots.

Leslie Martin and Erica Kaufmann both scored a goal for 6-7 Foxcroft Academy. Lindsay Chase had an assist and Brittany Fadley stopped 13 of 18 shots.

Old Town 7, Nokomis 2

At Old Town, Katie Bergeron and Allison Gallant both scored two goals to help lift Old Town over Nokomis of Newport.

Jen Higgins had a goal and assisted another for 8-4-1 Old Town. Megan McKay and Jenny Jones both had a goal. Amy McFalls made four saves on six shots.

Kelly Paradis and Heidi Tasker each scored a goal for 1-12 Nokomis. Rozlyn Peterson stopped 13 of 22 shots.

Bucksport 3, Orono 1

At Bucksport, Lindsey Gordon had a hat trick with three goals to lead Bucksport to the victory.

Keely Sullivan had two assists and Cassie Gourley had an assist for 9-3-1 Bucksport. Katie Hurd made no saves on three shots.

Sarah Balaban-Garber scored on a Loren Young assist with 8:43 left in the game for 1-9-3 Orono. Heather Woodbrey and Amanda Morrison combined to stop six of 13 shots.

MDI 4, Hermon 1

At Hermon, Michelle McLaughlin scored two goals to lift the Trojans to their first victory of the season.

Lily Allgood and Caitlin Glass each tallied a goal for 1-6-6 Mount Desert Island. Asia Ross made five saves on seven shots.

Cassie White scored the goal for 5-4-4 Hermon. Shannon Wiggin made 15 saves on 22 shots.

Woodland 3, Calais 2

At Woodland, Tabitha Hagenaars scored on a penalty kick with 15:09 left to break a tie and lift the Dragons past the rival Blue Devils.
