PITTSFIELD – Marty Quint returned a punt 89 yards for a touchdown and caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Victor Quint to help the Maine Central Institute Huskies defeat the Stearns Minutemen 28-12 in high school football action Friday night.

Victor Quint also ran 7 yards to score a touchdown for MCI, and Wes Gagne recovered a fumble and ran 3 yards for a touchdown.

Matt Wark ran 58 yards for a touchdown for Stearns of Millinocket, and George Surrette added a TD on a 6-yard run.

Rockland 28, John Bapst 26

At Rockland, Steve McGuire intercepted John Bapst quarterback George Keefe at the 10-yard line in the late going, helping the Tigers hold on to beat the Crusaders.

Wade Oliver carried 27 times for 246 yards, including 211 in the second half, and scored four touchdowns to pace Rockland. He also caught three passes for 49 yards and provided the eventual winning margin with a conversion rush.

Oliver scored on runs of 1, 3, 71 and 4 yards, the last of which came with no time left in the third quarter.

Chris Sawyer tackled Keefe in the end zone to account for a first-quarter safety for the hosts.

Keefe led John Bapst of Bangor with scoring runs of 56 and 4 yards. His 33-yard return of a muffed punt with 7:35 left gave the Crusaders a life, but they couldn’t convert on the conversion pass that would have tied the game.

At Mount Desert, Matt Littlefield ran 83 yards on four carries and scored two touchdowns to help Brewer to the win.

Zack Wilson had four carries for 80 yards and two touchdowns for the Witches. Jake Richter intercepted a pass and ran 12 yards for the touchdown, and Ben Caldwell scored on a 3-yard run.

Ricky Porter also completed a 30-yard TD pass to Drew Francis. Brewer had 347 yards on 31 carries.

Tyler Murphy ran 26 times for 96 yards for Mount Desert Island.

At Belfast, Josh Aldus carried 21 times for 222 yards and scored five touchdowns as the Lions roared to victory.

Aldus scored on runs of 1, 54, 10, 10, and 29 yards during the first three quarters.

Gerren Horne added a pair of TD runs – 1 yard in the second quarter and 54 yards in the third. Horne finished with 10 carries for 108 yards.

Sean Leeman added a 19-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

Tyler Eastman scored both Indians touchdowns on runs of 8 and 4 yards in the third quarter. He totaled 87 yards on 16 carries. Old Town quarterback Jarrett Lukas was 9 for 21 for 105 yards.

Joey Carmichael completed 5 of 15 passes for 72 yards and a touchdown for Bucksport. Bryce Babson ran 13 yards for a touchdown and John Harvey ran in a 1-yard touchdown.

Bill Greene rushed 13 times for 74 yards and scored a touchdown for Dexter. Eric Day scored on a 10-yard TD run.

Mike Martinez had nine carries for 80 yards for the Dragons.

Aaron Chambers ran 22 times for 116 yards for Skowhegan.
