GE Energy signs pair of China power deals

SHANGHAI, China – GE Energy signed two contracts worth $38 million Monday to supply equipment and services for two new hydroelectric plants in China.

GE Energy will provide four turbine-generator sets for the new Xi Xia Yuan hydroelectric facility on the Yellow River. The plant is being built by the Yellow River Water & Hydropower Development Corp., and will have an installed capacity of 144 megawatts.

Also, GE Energy will provide two 33-megawatt hydro turbines, generators and related parts to Fujian Jinzaoqiao Hydropower Co. Ltd. for a station to be built on the Jinzao River.

GE Energy, which has a parts production facility in Bangor, plans to ship the generator sets and related parts to the China sites between the end of this year and August 2007.
