WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Gabriel Germano took a long through-ball from Jason Jacobe and scored in the 60th minute on Wednesday, giving the University of Maine a 2-1 America East men’s soccer victory over Hartford.
Justin Stockford had put UMaine ahead 1-0, scoring 20 seconds into the second half on a pass from Kevin Forgett. Chad Mongeon made nine saves on 21 shots for the Bears, 4-5-3 overall and 1-3-2 in league play.
Nir Bublil scored for Hartford (2-8-3, 0-4-2 AE). Ryan Carr made three saves on eight shots.

At Waterville, the White Mules got second-half goals from James Pilgrim, Monty Hankin and Michael Butler after a scoreless first half.
Hankin, Brian Kasarjian, Brian Kelly and Daniel Kiernan posted an assist apiece. Brian Davidson and Josh Kahane combined to make two saves on six shots for 4-5-2 Colby.
Ryan Conrad, Philip Bailey and Ryan Hiller faced a total of 27 shots with 10 saves for the 3-10-1 Terriers.

MMA 3, UM-Farmington 1
At Farmington, Stacy Jones scored on a long shot to start Maine Maritime Academy out with a 1-0 halftime lead.
Amy Assselin converted a free kick and Jessica Taylor added a breakaway late in the game. Meghan Marshall had 10 saves on 18 shots for the 8-6-1 Mariners.
Jodie Welch scored with an assist from Erin Campbell for 8-5-3 UMaine-Farmington. Kerry Kowalczyk made four saves on nine shots.
Field hockey
Saint Joseph’s 3, Husson 2
At Standish, Kate Parent netted two goals, including the tie-breaker at 13:37 in overtime off an assist from Sarah Kay, as the Monks squeaked past the Eagles.
Monique Crawford scored off an assist from Michelle Cusak for 2-12 Saint Joseph’s. Ilissa Vallee made 16 saves on 18 shots.
Amy McDaniel and KaroleAnne Emery each had a goal for 4-9 Husson College of Bangor, while Kelly Bocchino made five save on 10 shots.
Framingham State 1, USM 0
At Framingham, Mass., junior midfielder Laura Hamburg’s goal with 3:51 to play in regulation gave the Rams a 1-0 victory over Southern Maine.
Lindsay McKearney stopped all eight shots for 7-4 Framingham State.
Sadie Garnache-Poirier saved 13 of 14 shots for the 3-14 Huskies.
