CASTLETON, Vt. – Kristen Allen scored two goals to lead the University of Maine-Farmington field hockey team to a 6-0 shutout of Castleton State on Thursday.
Kristi Cochin, Mary Sinclair, Becky Christiansen, and Amanda Fortin also scored. Christiansen also had two assists.
Rachel Sheloske and Ashleigh Biette combined for five saves on eight shots for UMF, and Meghan Aher and Emily Provencal made five saves on 28 shots.
Men’s soccer
UM-Farmington 3, St. Joseph’s 1
At Farmington, Brian London scored an unassisted goal at the 74:32 mark, breaking a 1-1 tie and leading the Beavers to victory.
Andy Knox scored unassisted and Craig Cameron scored off a Kevin Etter assist for the 7-6 Beavers. Seabren Reeves made six saves on 10 shots.
Steve Jette scored for 5-9-1 Saint Joseph’s of Standish. Brian White made seven saves on 20 shots.
USM 4, U-New England 1
At Biddeford, Andy Budelman and Kevin Dunham-Conway each scored two goals for the University of Southern Maine.
Adam St. Gelais scored for 2-9-3 UNE.
Chris Willard earned the win in goal as 8-3-3 USM outshot the Nor’easters 27-4. Steven Bishop made seven saves for UNE.
Women’s soccer
UM-Presque Isle 1, UMFK 0
At Fort Kent, Kelly Martin scored off an assist by Rachel Nightingale in the 65th minute, lifting the Owls to victory.
Anna Lenentine made two saves on six shots to earn the shutout for 6-6-1 UMaine-Presque Isle.
Kara Jackson made nine saves on 11 shots for 6-7-1 UMaine-Fort Kent.
