EAST MACHIAS – The Washington County Fish and Wildlife Conservation Club will host a public hearing at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Washington Academy gymnasium.

Down East hunters are encouraged to attend, as club members are trying to organize an effort to rejuvenate the deer herd in Washington County.

State wildlife biologist Jerry Lavigne will speak at the hearing, as will Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Advisory Council member Lance Wheaton. DIF&W fisheries expert Greg Burr will lead a discussion on public access issues.

Door prizes and raffles are also planned.
