LEWISTON – A Lewiston woman was arrested Friday on a murder charge in the stabbing death of her boyfriend.

Tarina Botelho, 31, is accused of stabbing Jamilah Shabazz, 32, on Sept. 5 in the Knox Street apartment they shared with Botelho’s six children.

State and local police arrested Botelho at her mother’s home in Lewiston. The children, ranging in age from 6 to 13, are now staying with their grandmother, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety.

Police investigated for nearly seven weeks and consulted with the Attorney General’s Office before seeking an arrest warrant for Botelho, McCausland said.
