CASTINE – Travis Parent scored off a Jamie Brewer assist to help lead the University of Maine at Presque Isle to a 2-1 men’s soccer overtime win over Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday.
Jay Johnson scored a goal during the seventh minute for 4-11-1 UM-Presque Isle. Braden Bragomir stopped two shots.
Pat McGuigan scored an unassisted goal with three seconds left in regulation for 3-9-2 Maine Maritime Academy. Josh Heath made six saves.
USM 3, UMass Dartmouth 0
At Gorham, Adam Bail scored two goals to help lead the University of Southern Maine to the victory on Saturday.
Andy Budelman scored a goal and assisted another for the 9-3-3 Huskies and Zach Rossignol had two assists. Chris Willard made three saves on 10 shots.
Kyle Fossey stopped one of six shots for 11-5-0 University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
St. Joseph’s 3, Newbury 0
At Standish, Mike Erickson scored two goals to lead Saint Joseph’s College past Newbury College on Saturday.
Shannon DeShield had a goal and an assist for the 6-10-1 Monks. Brian White stopped three of six shots.
Brian Picanco made three saves on 23 shots for 1-12-3 Newbury.
Connecticut 1, Colby 0
At Waterville, David Driscoll scored in the 23rd minute off of a Lee Camfield assist to help Connecticut College to the victory on Saturday.
Jon Knights made five saves for 3-10 Connecticut College.
Brian Davidson stopped four shots for 4-6-2 Colby College.
UM-Farmington notches win, tie
At Leicester, Mass., Andy Knox scored two goals to lift the University of Maine at Farmington over Becker College on Saturday, but neither team could poke one in on Sunday as UMF and Elms settled for a tie.
On Sunday, UMF goalie Seabren Reeves notched his fifth shutout this season with 10 saves on 17 shots.
Brian Cunniff had four saves on 10 UMF shots for 11-3-1 Elms.
On Saturday, Joe Conway added a goal at 28:16 for 8-6-1 UMF. Nate Ghelli and Andrew Harner each had an assist. Reeves made one save on six shots.
Jay Tornblom scored on a Tyler Roser assist at 66:38 for 4-9-1 Becker College. Justin Barrett stopped six of 11 shots.
Thomas 3, Becker 2
At Waterville, Chris Vashon scored two goals including the game-winner at 67:55 off of a Tyler Colby assist to help Thomas College to the win on Sunday.
Colby scored 4-11-1 Thomas’s other goal. Jeremy Stanford and Chris Inzerillo each had an assist. Shawn Hiller made three saves on eight shots.
Will Pease scored a goal and assisted another for 4-10-1 Becker College. Jason Tornblom added a goal and Valentino Faraone had an assist. Justin Barrett stopped seven of 22 shots.
Women’s soccer
USM 1, UMass Dartmouth 1
At Gorham, Amanda Valeriani scored, giving Southern Maine a 1-0 lead until the 85th minute.
Andrea Mota tied the game, with her goal for 10-4-1 UMass Dartmouth.
Marcy Ansley made 7 saves on 8 shots for 7-5-4 USM. Amanda Tavares saved 12 of 18 shots for UMD.
Brandeis 2, St. Joseph’s 0
At Waltham, Lauren Gregor scored twice, giving Brandeis the victory. The first was off a Lizzie Bremner assist.
Natasha Pieciak saved three shots for 11-3 Brandeis. Shana Howard saved 12 of 22 shots for 7-7-1 St. Joseph’s.
Connecticut College 2, Colby 0
At Waterville, Kate Simmons shut out Colby with six saves.
Rachael Schefrin and Maggie Driscoll each scored for 7-5 Connecticut.
Elizabeth Riley made 13 saves for 6-5-1 Colby.
UM-Farmington sweeps
At Leicester, Mass., Kelley Burk had two goals and two assists to lead the University of Maine-Farmington to a weekend soccer sweep with a 6-1 win over Becker College Saturday and a 2-0 victory Sunday over Elms College.
On Sunday, Heidi Parker and Burk each scored a goal to provide the winning margin. Melissa DeMerchant and Kerry Rowalczyk combined to make four saves on six shots for the 10-5-3 Beavers.
Lauren Stark made seven saves on 20 shots for 9-7 Elms.
On Saturday, Jodi Welch scored two second half goals to help lead the Beavers.
Erin Campbell, Burk, Erin Findland, and Bailly Hovey each scored a goal for UMF. DeMerchant and Rowalczyk made two saves on four shots.
Julie Arroyo made 13 saves on 24 shots for Becker. Devi Caron scored the goal for 4-10-2 Becker.
Thomas 0, Becker 0
At Waterville Sunday, Thomas’ Danielle Searles and Becker’s Deneille Caron threw shutouts at each other from the nets as their teams had to settle for a scoreless tie.
Searles had five saves on six shots for the 0-11-1 Thomas.
Caron made seven saves on 11 shots for 1-8-3 Becker.
Anna Maria 4, Saint Joseph’s 2
At Standish, Kate Parent scored unassisted twice for the Saint Joseph’s College Monks, but it wasn’t enough to offset Anna Maria’s balanced scoring attack.
Suzanne Yanovitch, Kristen McCarthy, Holly Wrightson, and Nicole Eldredge each scored a goal for Anna Maria. Eldredge and Wrightson each also had an assist. Rachel Braier made two saves on five shots.
Ilissa Valler made 15 saves on 19 shots for Saint Joseph’s.
Husson splits two games
At Bangor, Beatriz DeYcaza scored four goals to lead the Husson College Eagles past Lesley College on Sunday after dropping a 3-1 decision to Western New England Saturday.
On Sunday, Elissa Gordon scored twice and Shelby Morissette once for the 10-4-2 Eagles. Leah Drew made eight saves on 10 shots.
Sarah Wedge stopped 18 of 27 shots for 5-1-2-1 Lesley.
On Saturday, Amanda Jameson scored two goals, leading WNE’s attack. Monique Hammith added a goal off an assist from Stephanie Gildart.
Husson’s Amy McDaniel scored in the first half.
4-9 Husson was out-shot 7-14 by 12-5 WNE.
Maine Maritime gets 2 shutouts
At Castine, Amy Asselin scored one goal and assisted on two others Sunday and Ashley Brooker had four goals on Saturday to lead the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners to a weekend sweep.
The Mariners beat Wheelock 4-0 Sunday and downed Lesley 6-0 Saturday.
On Sunday, Amy Preble, Kristin Gabor and Jessica Taylor each scored a goal for the 10-6-1 Mariners. Meghan Marshall had one save on five shots.
Meghan Casey had 12 saves on 30 shots for 2-11 Wheelock.
On Saturday, Asselin scored one goal and assisted on two others and Jessica Taylor had one goal for the Mariners. Asselin and Meghan Marshall combined for three saves on 10 shots.
Maine 1, New Hampshire 0
At Orono, Erin Corey of Winslow notched her fifth goal of the season 19 minutes into the first period and the Black Bears made it stand up Sunday.
The 11-4-1 Bears got an assist out of Scarborough’s Heather Hathorn and limited UNH to four shots and Tanya Adorno made one save. It is the 18th career shutout for Adorno, who broke Naomi Welsh’s school record, set in 2002.
For the 8-7-2 Wildcats, Lynn Gugliuzza made six saves on 19 shots.
UM-Machias 6, Unity 1
At Machias, Cathy Wilson scored three goals to help lead the University of Maine at Machias to the win on Sunday.
Shelly Hayden had a goal and two assists for 10-4 UM-Machias. Sarah Ricker and Emily Dano each added a goal. Erin O’Callahan had an assist as Angela Qualey made no saves on one shot.
Christina Blakely scored on a penalty kick with 17 minutes left in the second half for 5-6-1 Unity. Blakely also made eight saves on 19 shots.
Field hockey
Thomas 3, UMF 2 (2OT)
FARMINGTON- Amber Richard scored two goals to lead the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers past Thomas College of Waterville.
Kari Grant assisted on two goals and Meredith Arute scored the other one for the Terriers. Jen Lane made 14 saves on 16 shots.
Becky Christiansen scored both goals for the Beavers on assists from Kristin Chambers and Amanda Pullen. Ashleigh Biette made nine saves on 12 shots.
Fitchburg State 2, So. Maine 1
At Gorham, Jenn Kelley’s goal with 3:04 left in the game gave Fitchburg State College the win over the University of Southern Maine Saturday.
Kristen Frazier scored the first goal for 10-5 Fitchburg State. Christina Charron made four saves on eight shots.
Teryn Clark of Winthrop scored her first college goal for the 3-15 USM Huskies. Sadie Garnache-Poirier made six saves on 19 shots.
Maine 2, Albany 1
At Schenectady, N.Y., Traci Rainone and Emily Dooling each scored a goal off penalty corners and helped the visiting Black Bears improve to 12-4.
For the Bears, Winslow’s Jamie Morin made six saves on 13 shots.
For the 7-10 Albany Great Danes, Danielle Conklin scored on an Alexis Johnson assist. Barbara Czaplinski made four saves on nine shots.
Conn. College 2, Colby 1
At Waterville, Alex Albright and Jill Mauer scored goals in the first half to lead Connecticut College to the win Saturday.
Ashley Kenerson made 16 saves on 17 shots for the 4-9 Conn. College Camels.
Jennifer Reilly scored off an Emily Lawrence assist for the 6-6 Mules. Molly Rice made seven saves on nine shots.
