WATERVILLE – Justin Smith threw for 253 yards and four touchdowns and Steve Markesich caught seven passes for 131 yards and a touchdown to lead Colby College to a 35-0 win over Hamilton in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.

Colby (3-2, 3-2 NESCAC) opened the scoring when Smith hit Chris Duncombe on a 5-yard scoring pass in the second quarter. Brandon Holtslag led Hamilton (1-4, 1-4) with 110 yards rushing, but the Colby defense held him to just 28 yards passing.

In Worcester, Mass., Chelsea Allen scored on a 5-yard run with 1:05 remaining to give Maine Maritime (2-4, 2-3 New England Football Conference) a 27-24 win over Worcester State.

Allen’s touchdown spoiled a second-half comeback for Worcester State (5-3, 2-2), which trailed 20-3 at halftime before scoring 21 unanswered second-half points to take the lead in the fourth quarter.

At Plymouth, N.H., a 164-yard rushing effort and three touchdowns from Bangor’s Mike Prentiss wasn’t enough to get the Husson College Eagles their second win of the season.

Husson couldn’t prevent the Plymouth State College Panthers from ending a 26-game losing streak either.

Quarterback Tye Seastedt completed 11 of 23 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns to help lead the 1-6 PSC Panthers. He also led the team with 85 yards and another touchdown on seven carries. Both of Seastedt’s TD passes went to Brad Largy, who led PSC’s receiving corps with 80 yards on both catches.

Prentiss averaged 4.2 yards per carry for the 1-6 Eagles. Quarterback David Chase threw for 122 yards.

Trinity (5-0, 5-0)) scored on its opening drive on Leo’s 6-yard run 3:53 into the game. Leo scored later in the first quarter and added two third-quarter touchdowns.

In Middlebury, Vt., Mike Keenan broke Middlebury school records with 31 completions and 427 passing yards to lead Middlebury (2-3, 2-3 NESCAC) to a 42-31 win over Bates (1-4, 1-4).

Middlebury’s Tom Cleaver tied a school record with 15 receptions and broke a school record with 256 yards receiving. Bates’ Ron DiGravio had a career high 142 yards rushing with two touchdowns on 26 carries to lead the Bobcats.
