There is a wide-scale misunderstanding on President Bush’s handling of stem cell research. Many appear to believe he is limiting it.
They have not been educated on the following items:
. There is nothing stopping unlimited stem cell research by nongovernment money;
. There are ample stem cells available for both nonpublic and public endeavors;
. Bush is the first president to allow government funds for stem cell research;
. The lines of stem cells he has released for government research will be ample for at least 10 years, and;
. It will take years of stem cell research to prove that it can be more effective than adult stem cells research in fighting rare diseases.
Sen. John Edwards, in telling the crowds that Christopher Reeve could have been up and walking out of his wheelchair if he and Sen. Kerry were in office, is the height of duplicityand dishonesty.
