Voters in Penobscot County District 1 (Bangor and Brewer) have a real choice on Nov. 2. Bangor Republican Peggy Sheriff is running as a write-in candidate against Democrat Peter Baldacci for Penobscot County commissioner.
Sheriff has the skills needed to lead effectively. She holds a master’s degree in organizational management and is retired after twenty years in human resources and procurement. She has the energy and experience to effectively represent the citizens of Penobscot County.
County government needs to be responsible to local taxpayers. Local property taxes continue to rise year after year, threatening our most vulnerable citizens – seniors, those on fixed incomes, and young families. Sheriff will work hard to reduce this burden by encouraging local cities and towns to regionalize municipal services that can be more efficiently provided at the county level.
Regionalization can reduce property taxes, create public-sector job security, and eliminate wasteful administrative costs while improving essential services such as law enforcement and fire protection. If you’re tired of politics as usual, please join me in writing in “Peggy Sheriff, Bangor” for county commissioner.
