U.S. Marine Corps
CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – Marine Corps Pfc. Anthony D. Morrissette graduated recently from the basic hygiene operator course at Marine Corps Engineer School, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
During the course, Morrissette received instruction in basic plumbing, maintenance equipment and field sanitation. His skills will ensure that field unit troops will have an adequate water supply and necessary hygiene equipment.
Morrisette, the son of Kellie and Michael Morrissette of Hermon, is a 2003 graduate of Hermon High School.
Deployments
ABILENE, Texas – Air Force Airman Matthew J. Ouellette has deployed overseas to a forward operating location in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Ouellette, a technician with four years of military service, is normally assigned to Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, Texas. A 2000 graduate of Old Town High School, he is the son of Timothy Ouellette of Bangor and Pamela Ireland of Laconia, N.H.
BANGOR – Army Pfc. Jason Black has deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Black, a turret systems repairman, is regularly assigned to one of the various camps and units of the 2nd Infantry Division, Eighth Army, based in South Korea. A 2002 graduate of Bangor High School, Black is the son of Shirley Black of Bangor.
On drug patrol
SAN DIEGO – Navy Ensign Sara Burrill, daughter of Steven Burrill of Winterport, recently participated in the two largest drug seizures in history while serving aboard the guided missile frigate USS Curts, whose home port is San Diego.
In partnership with the guided missile frigate USS Crommelin, Burrill’s unit intercepted two fishing boats loaded with more than 75,000 pounds of cocaine west of the Galapagos Islands. The drugs will be used as evidence against the 10 suspects detained during the operation, led by U.S. Coast Guard teams.
Burrill is one of more than 215 crew members assigned to the USS Curts, currently on routine deployment in support of counter-drug operations in the eastern Pacific.
Burrill is a 2000 graduate of Hamden Academy in Hampden. She joined the Navy in May 2004.
Basic training
SAN ANTONIO – Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Jonathan P. Graham has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base.
Graham is the son of Scott and Janet Graham of Hermon, and is a 2004 graduate of Hermon High School.
SAN ANTONIO – Air Force 1st Class John M. Curtis has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.
Curtis is a 1997 graduate of Orono high school and a 2002 of the University of Maine. He is the son of Theodore and Rose Marie Curtis of Orono.
ROTC
TACOMA, Wash. – Patrick Knaide has graduated from the Army ROTC leader development and assessment course, also known as Operation Warrior Forge at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash.
Knaide, a 2001 graduate of Bangor High School, is the son of Robert Haskell of Bangor.
TACOMA, Wash. – Matthew J. Flagg has graduated from the Army ROTC Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as “Operation Warrior Forge,” at Fort Lewis.
Flagg is the son of Michael H. and Barbara J. Flagg of Winterport. He is a 2001 graduate of Hampden Academy.
