ORONO – Brown University scored two second-period goals en route to a 3-0 women’s ice hockey victory over the Maine Black Bears at Alfond Arena Friday night.

Brown, 1-0, spoiled the home opener for the Black Bears, now 1-1-1.

Krissy McManus opened the scoring for Brown off an assist from Amy McLaughlin 9:24 into the period. Jessica Link came back about 10 minutes later for the second goal with assists from Keaton Zucker and Myria Heinhuis.

Kerry Nugent scored a power-play goal for Brown in the third period with assists from Margaret Ramsay and Ashlee Dover.

Maine outshot Brown 23-22 with Brown goalies Marie-Pier Desbiens and O’Hara Shipe combining for 23 saves and Maine’s Rachel Getting making 19.
