Five Brewer residents vie for 2 council seats

BREWER – Two incumbents and three residents have thrown their hats into the ring for two open Brewer City Council seats that will be filled during elections on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 2.

The terms of former Mayor and now-Councilor Gail Kelly and Deputy Mayor Manley DeBeck expire this year, and they both are running for another three-year term.

David Cameron, Mark Friedman and Jerry Hudson also are candidates for a City Council post.

Also running are high school trustee Thomas Gardner, who faces no opposition in his pursuit of another five years with that panel. School board Chairman Mark Chambers also is running unopposed for another three-year term.

Local city and school elections will be held in conjunction with national elections on Nov. 2. All voting in Brewer takes place at the Brewer Auditorium, starting at 7 a.m. and running until 8 p.m.

Anyone who hasn’t registered to vote can do so up until the polls close as long as they bring identification and proof of residency.
