Auction to aid man with medical expenses

THOMASTON – A benefit auction for a local jeweler who is to receive a kidney transplant from his wife will be held Saturday at Watts Hall.

The event is to raise money for the medical procedure and related expenses.

Dan Chambers, owner of Chambers Jewelers on Main Street, is in need of a kidney transplant to avoid frequent dialysis treatments, according to the Rockland-Thomaston Area Chamber of Commerce. Chambers’ wife, Marquita, plans to donate one of her kidneys to her husband.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for previewing and the two-hour auction kicks off at 7 p.m.

There will be raffles, a silent auction and a live auction by auctioneer Bruce Gamage.

Anyone interested in donating gift certificates, services or items may drop off items or contact Judy Brogden at Camden National Bank in Thomaston, 354-2541.

Volunteers interested in helping with the event may call Marilyn and Rick Johnson at 273-3555.
