BANGOR – A federal grand jury indicted Wayne Parson, 36, of Orono on drug charges. He was charged in U.S. District Court in Bangor last month with possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

He remains free on a $10,000 unsecured bond.

An Alton man who has not yet been arrested and whose identity was not released was indicted as Parsons’ co-defendant.

If convicted, each man could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison and fined $1 million.

Parsons and his co-defendant were observed in July selling cocaine to a police informant by agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, according to court documents.

Drug agents gave the informant $3,200 to purchase cocaine from Parsons and his co-defendant.

The informant turned over nearly 3 ounces of cocaine to police.
