Bangor man given summons for driving without a license

A man attempting to drive to work without a valid driver’s license early Friday was stopped and issued a summons.

Bangor police Officer Josh Ouellette watched a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer run a red light just after midnight on Hogan Road. Ouellette stopped the sport utility vehicle near Applebee’s.

The driver, Stephen Harnish, 45, of Bangor, leaned out the window before Ouellette got to his vehicle and told the officer he didn’t have a license.

Ouellette asked the man if his license was suspended and Harnish replied, “No, I’ve never had a license,” the officer’s police report stated.

Harnish said he was on his way to work at American Concrete. He was issued a summons for operating without a license. Ouellette let him call his wife to give him a ride to work.

A public safety officer at the University of Maine charged one student with possession of drug paraphernalia Friday morning after hearing loud music coming from a residence hall dorm room.

The officer, who was not identified by the UM dispatcher, apparently heard loud music at about 4 a.m. coming from a dorm room and knocked on the door.

Two students were inside and the officer could smell marijuana, the dispatcher said. The officer asked the students if they had been smoking, and Daniel Buck, no age or hometown given, produced a small glass pipe with marijuana residue.

Buck was charged with possession of paraphernalia.

A Bangor teenager who was driving his girlfriend’s van Friday morning was issued a summons for operating after suspension.

Bangor police Officer Wade Betters stopped a 1993 Plymouth Voyager that had a brake light out shortly before 2 a.m. near the Airport Mall.

The driver, Valance Bohn, 19, told the officer he left his license at home, but Betters ran Bohn’s name and found that the license had been suspended. Bohn claimed he didn’t know his license was suspended, the officer’s report said.

Bohn was issued a summons and Betters gave him a lift home.
